Forex and Banking

Nepal has number of registered bank and foreign exchange counter. Foreign currencies must be exchanged through only authorized foreign currency exchange counter or dealer and bank. Travelers can exchange their currency at the airport upon arrival in Kathmandu at the foreign exchange counter.

Indian currency of INR 1000 and INR 500 are not allowed to be brought into Nepal. These currency will not be exchanged and accepted for any foreign exchange counter and bank.

Credit Card like Master Card, Visa Card or American Express are well accepted. The following currencies are exchange in Nepal.
